While your various Louis Vuitton and classic Birkin can still remain a stable that a woman pulls out every few seasons, this year offers a whole new range of exciting luxury designer totes with classic form and cutting edge innovations.
The color of choice for 2013 to 2014 seems to be pale ice-cream colors and off-whites, but all these bags also come in texture browns and classic blacks to invest in.
Willow Bag, Mulberry
Mulberry’s Willow new signature tote received a lot of attention when it debuted on the spring runway in London being hailed immediately a new classic. It is basically a generously sized zip-off clutch in shrunken grain leather which gives it a uniquely textured in a number of colorful and classic shades. As with most of these luxury totes it has double personality, with detachable shoulder straps and a large kind of Birkin shape but much more modern.
It was nostalgically named after the brand’s second factory, The Willows, which will open later this year in Somerset and is Kate Mosses current tote of choice.
Price: $1500 to $2700

Dolce & Gabbana Sicily Tote
Dolce & Gabbana´s latest tote is a new design but with a particular strong nostalgic classic Italian 60s feel. It is shaped like an oversized version of a 60s handbag but with less compartmentalization, giving it more space for all a woman´s modern day devices, cosmetic bags and other travel essential. It also has a detachable strap to convert from business or airport tote to a trendy handbag upon arrival.
It is made from soft leather with clever side panel to give it some practical space inside without too much thickness overall. It has a gold-tone logo plaque, a top zip closure and a magnetic fastening.
This bag has been seen slung over the arms of Selena Gomez, Monica Belucci and Beyoncé in recent weeks.
The Lucrezia has been around for a few seasons but seems to have just hit its mark in new pale lollipop shades. It is a retro luggage shape bag hand made in Italy from nappa lambskin with leather-top zip duffel, rolled top handles, reinforced leather corners at base with some spike stud detailing on the shoulder strap and bottom of bag. It comes in a few sizes with detachable/adjustable shoulder strap.
It is already the frequent carry luggage at airport for the likes of Miranda Kerr (who has been carrying it for a while in black), Megan Fox and Amanda Seyfried probably because of its generation compartments and handy hand luggage to handbag conversion.
